Your coaches were very pleased with how you all played today. Good jump to the ball, good passing and some nice shots on net. Sophie played solid goal in the first half as did Grace in the second half (Really liked the save off the penalty kick and the point blank scramble in front!)

Just to confirm a prior email, this is our only game this weekend, due to field closure we will not be playing a make-up game against Peninsula.

Great game!

Nice passing today, and lots of great plays. I figure we had at least 15 shots on their net, their goaltender played very well. Unlucky for Josee hitting the crossbar (how many is that now? :) ) and for Celeste who had a lovely goal called back offside, and another just hop off her foot and barely go wide of the net. One of the fathers from the other team cam up to me after the game and said " Boy do your girls play HARD!!!!! But they are not chippy" (Meaning not cheap or dirty) I think that is a great comment from an opposing team.
Without exception, every one of you girls performed well today, it was a pleasure to watch you play as a team. :)

Game vs. Gorge thoughts.....

Some very nice passing top start the game, and lots of pressure throughout. A well earned victory.
Unfortunately, when we changed goalies in the second half, we had some difficulties. I know it was embarrassing for you girls as it was for us coaches as well. Next time, we shall endeavor to have spare gloves and a jersey so we are not trying to change out wet equipment during a game!

Lets also keep this in mind for sometime in the future when an opposing team has an "issue" against us. We shall keep our heads up and continue to play in the spirit of good sportsmanship. :)

Game vs. Nanaimo

Sure was strange for this coach going from 27 degrees Celcius to 7 degrees in 24 hours!
That was a fun game to watch, you all did well against a well coached physical team. Sure was nice for me to come back to see such a great game. :)

Thought on todays game

Cordova Bay showed up ready to play, we did not. They earned both their goals, the first was a nice cross, the second a nice capitilization on a rush. They also rang a shot off both posts. We were not first to the ball, nor were we communicating with each other, nor were we moving to space, nor we we picking up checks.

I felt we carried the play in the second half, we had a couple of nice chances but couldn't finish. As bad as you were in the first half, I am proud you never gave up and played much harder. I hope you all learn from this and realize a game is 60 minutes and we have to earn a win.

A rainy Sunday night

3-1 Over Bays

Great goaltending by Josee and Julia. I felt we carried the play in the first half, but Bays carried it in the second half. I think you all played fairly well considering how many different positions some of you played. Biggest issue I think we had in the second half was that the forwards and defense were playing as seperate lines, not as a team. But we will work on this, overall, good job!

Another solid game

Thanks to Julia and Celeste, we had solid goaltending today. Both girls were aggresive in net, and stymied any chances Lakehill had. Great play by all the girls today, some lovely passing and 5 nice goals.
Josee was unlucky again with hitting the post, but you were on target! I am doing my best to rotate the girls through all positions, my goal is to have a team full of girls who can play everywhere.

2-1 Victory over Gorge

First time you girls had to overcome a bit of adversity after Gorge went up 1-0 just before the end of the first half. You all played well today, you kept the passes going and had some excellent chances.With the constant pressure, finally you got some luck and Stef and Julia both scored some nice goals to give us the win. Did you guys also know while Sophie played goal in the second half she never touched the ball ? That was great team play, and with only 1 sub, you all had to step up and play a lot of minutes.

Second practice confirmed

I know we had a couple issues for some girls, but Thursday night from 5-6 has been confirmed for Tyndall turf. Better than gravel.

Great game!

What a nice way to start the season. It seems the girls were a little slow to start (not many early risers on this team? ;) but once they warmed up, the passing game started to work, then the goals followed. Good job by our defense and Jenna and Sophie in goal too!

Thursday night practice

I have added a poll regarding a 2nd practice on the turf Thursday nights from 5-6.
The other option is we can practice on the gravel from 6-7.

Practice schedule

We have been scheduled for Tuesday nights on the turf at 6:00. I would like to practice Thursdays as well, we may start at Lambrick for the next few weeks till it gets dark.
The other option is the gravel field. I will update as we get closer to the season.

Try-outs this Tuesday and Thursday from 6-7

Make sure you have clean cleats and bring lots of water. We will play rain or shine!

Game time is 11:00, please be at the park by 10:30 for warm ups. Don't forget your water bottle, and since we haven't been assigned any bring a soccer ball too!
